Oficina Técnica Buigas – Types of fountains
Musical Fountains
Musical fountains are those in which water, light and sound combine to form different choreographies. With these fountains, the light and sound are as important as the water, as the shoots of water dance to the rhythm of the music and play with the lights to create a show worthy of admiration.

At OTB, we work with the best materials to make these fountains unique spaces. But that’s not all, we also work with various music professionals to create exclusive fountains, always thinking about our client and the public. That’s why we create shows that any passer-by, from children to adults, can sit and enjoy, with their perfect synchrony of water, light and music.
In general, musical fountain shows are points of tourist interest, as seeing the water dancing to the rhythm of the music and playing with the lights makes a visit to these fountains a unique experience. The observer can enjoy the night show, perfect to cool down on those hot summer nights, or enjoy a walk with the kids on a winter afternoon. The music included in this type of show used to be more classical, to make it look like the water was dancing a ballet. But more recently we have also included modern music to draw the attention of the younger generations and turn these fountains into shows for all ages. In addition, these fountains are also versatile because they can be integrated with other arts, such as, for example, concerts or stage design, thus creating an interdisciplinary show that seduces an even larger audience. In short, this combination gives the place a different, special attractiveness, which seeks to exhibit greater potential in towns.
How musical fountains work
When it comes to creating a new show, the first thing we do is choose the music, as the water will have to dance in time with it and the lights will accompany the dancing. As each fountain show is unique and is designed for each client exclusively, we adapt ourselves to your suggestions when it comes to choosing the fountain’s music.
Most of OTB’s clients trust in us given our extensive experience and accept our advice and suggestions, but they are ones to make the final decision regarding the repertoire, and this is another thing that makes us unique.
Perroquet Park, Vilanova
Our musical fountains are programmed with DMX technology and are controlled either from the control panel located in the technical room near the fountain or from a remote desktop, to be able to create new choreographies remotely thanks to our inhouse software, Syncroshow, which controls and coordinates all the fountain’s systems.
In the programming of all the systems that make up each choreography, it is very important to precisely coordinate the opening of the different types of nozzle and the height the water will reach with the music’s basic rhythm so that the most musically intense moments coincide with the most impressive effects. The light sequence also plays an important role as the combination of lights and colours can change the focal point of the show
