Design
The main goal of the project was to modernize the Plaza Andalucía fountain without altering its historical and cultural essence. To achieve this, a comprehensive intervention was carried out, combining the restoration of existing elements with the incorporation of innovative technologies.
A complete review of the fountain’s structure was conducted, repairing and improving the waterproofing of the basin to ensure its watertightness and durability. Additionally, the perimeter stone slabs were restored, replacing those that were deteriorated and maintaining the aesthetic coherence of the ensemble.
One of the most notable aspects of the new design is the integration of a linear and uniform LED lighting system, which provides homogeneous and adaptable illumination. This system allows for the creation of different lighting scenes, enhancing the beauty of the fountain and offering a dynamic visual spectacle.
Furthermore, an autonomous water treatment system was incorporated, ensuring efficient and sustainable water quality and cleanliness. This system, along with the renovation of the pumping system, ensures optimal and environmentally friendly operation.
Execution
The fountain’s renovation was carried out in several phases, ensuring an orderly and efficient process:
- Phase 1: Preparation and structural repair
Waterproofing and painting of the basin were carried out, ensuring its durability and preventing leaks. The existing structural elements were also rehabilitated, respecting their original design and reinforcing their integrity. - Phase 2: Installation of hydraulic and electrical systems
The pumping system was completely renovated, with new pipes installed and water flow optimized for efficient operation. Additionally, the electrical system was modernized, incorporating state-of-the-art LED fixtures and an intelligent control system that allows for programmed water and light effects. - Phase 3: Technology integration and commissioning
The autonomous water treatment system was installed, ensuring its proper functioning and synchronization with the pumping system. Finally, extensive testing was conducted to adjust the water, lighting, and control effects, achieving a spectacular and functional result.
Sustainability
The renovation of the Plaza Andalucía fountain reflects OTB Water Design’s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. During the project, the use of durable and environmentally friendly materials was prioritized, as well as the restoration of existing elements to minimize environmental impact.
The LED lighting system significantly reduces energy consumption compared to traditional technologies, while the water treatment and recirculation system optimizes water usage, preventing waste.
Additionally, the integration of an intelligent control system allows for efficient resource management, adapting the fountain’s operation to specific needs at any given time.
This project has not only restored the Plaza Andalucía fountain to its original splendor but has also turned it into a benchmark for modernity, sustainability, and technology applied to the design of public spaces.
