Ornamental Lighting Effects: Light That Transforms Spaces

At Oficina Técnica Buigas, we understand ornamental lighting as both an artistic and technical tool capable of changing the perception of a space, enhancing its aesthetic value, and generating memorable emotions for those who visit it. For nearly 100 years, we have perfected the art of lighting fountains, monuments, parks, and public spaces with creativity, precision, and cutting-edge technology.

What is ornamental lighting?

It involves using lighting systems to highlight architectural, artistic, or natural elements with an aesthetic intention. The goal is to create specific atmospheres—magical, solemn, cozy, or spectacular—based on the space’s purpose and use. At OTB, we design these lighting experiences with the necessary technical knowledge and a comprehensive artistic vision.

Lighting technologies we use and their applications

Outdoor and underwater LED lighting

Use: Ideal for fountains, sculptures, gardens, and monuments. Advantages: Low energy consumption, high durability, multiple colors, and dimmable intensity.

High-power projectors

Use: For architectural façades, monumental trees, squares, or large sculptures. Advantages: Powerful light capable of illuminating large areas from a distance.

LED strips

Use: Perfect for marking paths, fountain outlines, urban structures, or landscape elements. Advantages: Flexible, waterproof, discreet, and adaptable to any shape.

Strobe lighting

Use: Dynamic effects in shows, especially during key choreography moments. Advantages: Strong visual impact, sensation of fast or “frozen” movement.

Laser

Laser

Use: Temporary or permanent shows with high visual impact. Advantages: High definition, ability to project shapes, lines, or animations.

Materiales muro de agua

Video mapping

Use: To create visual narratives on surfaces such as façades, water screens, or stage structures. Advantages: Combines image and architecture in a three-dimensional projection.

Light and music choreographies

Use: Interactive installations or scheduled shows in fountains, squares, or parks. Advantages: Full coordination between water, light, and sound via specialized software.

Fiber optics

Use: Ideal for fine details, indirect lighting, or integration into pavements or delicate structures. Advantages: Discreet, safe (no electricity at the light point), and water-resistant.

Automation and DMX control

Use: Remote and precise programming of each lighting component. Advantages: Total control over colors, intensities, sequences, and synchronization with other systems.

Ornamental lighting for events

In addition to permanent installations, OTB designs and installs temporary ornamental lighting for cultural, institutional, corporate, or private events. These systems transform any space for a limited time, creating spectacular and unique atmospheres that remain in the audience’s memory.
